Our Name

7Spears is honored to take its name from the legacy of The Seven Spears of Shizugatake. These noble samurai were mounted bodyguards for Toyotomi Hideyoshi at the battle of Shizugatake in 1583. At the decisive moment in the battle, Hideyoshi ordered his guards to leave their position and charge at the opposing army of Katsuie Shibata. For their unflinching bravery in battle and their willingness to defend their principal at all costs, they were promoted. To this day, the title of “Seven Spear” is used to bestow honor to those who distinguish themselves in the personal protection sphere.
